You’re almost there! You’re almost ready to press SUBMIT! But before you submit your law school applications, read over our tips and advice to really polish off your applications.

Don’t rush to submit your applications. Do not feel pressured to submit your applications before you are confident that you double and triple-checked all your application components and documents, satisfied all the application requirements, and have put your best effort forward. Be thorough and careful as you review your applications, so do not press “submit” until you are truly prepared to do so.

PROOFREAD! We cannot stress enough how important it is to proofread and review your personal statement, resume, diversity statement, and any other supplementary materials you submit with your applications. Do not rely on spell check to catch your mistakes; have a family member, friend, or advisor give your documents one last read. Having a bunch of people review your documents right before you submit might be stressful since they might give you different feedback at the last minute, so stick to maybe one person you trust to help you proofread.

Also don’t forget to proofread your entries in your online law school applications!

Review school-specific documents. If you have crafted your personal statement, resume, or letters of recommendation for specific schools (name the law school in your personal statement, had an alumni write a school-specific LOR, etc.), be 100% certain that you are submitting the school-specific document to the RIGHT school. Additionally, make sure you have completed any essays that are required by the schools or have attached optional essays that you have elected to write.

Have your schools received your transcripts and LORs? Make sure your transcripts, LORs, evaluations, personal statement, resume, and any other supplemental material is uploaded to LSAC and/or has been received by the law schools.

Pay application fee. Make sure you pay for LSAC reports for each law school and for the applications themselves.

After you are completely sure you are ready to submit your applications and after you have proofread and double checked everything, PRESS SUBMIT!! You can breathe a sigh of relief, and wait to hear back from schools!
